Anthonia opened the series with a conversation centered on the ethical dimensions of AI implementation, particularly within community contexts. She shared her work at Ethós Lab, a STEAM innovation hub serving youth in K-12 education, and described the events and programs the lab hosts both on and off site to engage young people in technology and innovation. She introduced frameworks for personal and group AI use charters, emphasizing how educational technology must be grounded in equity and community values.

Welcome Dr. Rachel Horst, MET Lecturer & Academic Advisor

Dr. Rachel Horst is a digital literacy scholar and educator. She joined the MET community in September for a one-year lectureship and will also be the new Academic Advisor!
Dr. Horst teaches: Curriculum Issues in Cultural and New Media Studies (ETEC 531), Artificial Intelligence in Education – Using AI to Enhance Learning (ETEC 565H), Constructivist Strategies for E-Learning (ETEC 530), and Ableism, Equity, and Educational Technology (ETEC 565C). She holds a PhD in Language and Literacy Education from UBC and is a graduate of the MET program herself.
